October of 2014, A Sizzling Month

October of 2014 will go down as my best month since I started Box Family Advisors, LLC in March of 2005. What made it special is that I published my first book, ‘Cutter Frisco – Growing up on the original Southfork Ranch’.  In addition, I am about to finish my next book project called ‘Texas Patriarch – The Rise of Cloyce Box, The Fall of a Family Business’.

I was also able to successfully complete 3 speaking gigs during the month.  Two were for trade association groups while the third was for a university-based family business council in O’ahu, Hawaii.  However, the most interesting of the three engagements was the one I just finished up in Orlando, Florida – the International Packaged Age Association (or IPIA).

It was there that I got to present to a wide number of family businesses scattered across the country.  I even made friends with a new family firm based in Yonkers, New York.  My, my, my…how all of this has expanded my horizons.  Best of all, they invited me to their private party at City  Walk in downtown Orlando where we took in Pat O’Brien’s, Bob Marley’s Reggae House and the Shining Star Karaoke club.  Oh what a night it was and what a month October has been for me.  I wish every month from now on could be as rewarding.  I am very grateful.
